Apitherapy uses the venom of bees to cure ailment
A particular type of treatment uses the venom of bees to cure ailments. This is widely known as apitherapy. This method is particularly useful for diseases like rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and osteoarthritis. Honeybee venom contains many active substances. One of these substances is known as 'Mellitin'. It works as an anti-inflammatory agent. It is said to be more than one hundred times stronger than cortisone. All these substances stimulate the release of the hormone cortisol as well as neurotransmitters such as, norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin. These substances are highly effective against pain, stiffness and swelling, symptoms common to pain related ailments.
